2012 Ancient Cellars Avery Zinfandel
This wine was made by Ancient Cellars in Dundee, Oregon from grapes grown in the Red Mountain AVA of Washington's Columbia Valley. It was aged on 25% new French oak for sixteen months and was bottled in May 2014. It is a lovely Zinfandel wine, with pure, deep, dark raspberry & cherry flavors with a charming dark edge. There is a nice spiciness from the French oak. The finish is medium-long and very pleasant. This is a serious, elegant un-California, not-at-all jammy Zinfandel that will age for years. It is entering it's prime drinking period and develop for five more years and hold for at least five years after that.

2012 Domaine de la Terre Rouge Syrah "Les Cotes de l'Ouest"
This wine got 92 points from the Wine Enthusiast and was named an Editor’s Choice. Here is their review: "A bold but well-behaved wine, this is spicy and meaty in aroma, generously layered with flavors of black plums, blackberries and incredibly velvety tannins. The way that the core of delicious fruit is shrouded in thick but soft tannins and threaded with acidity is a marvel. It's tempting to drink now but lay it down until 2018 if possible."

2012 Domaine de la Terre Rouge Syrah "Sentinel Oak"
This wine got 95 points from the Wine Enthusiast and was named#18 of their Top 100 Wines of 2015 and a Cellar Selection. Here is their review: " Built for aging, this tightly wound, elegant and yet grand wine is sure to develop more nuances and smoothness with time. It smells enticingly like cedar, tobacco and dark chocolate-covered blueberries, yet retains a firmness and reserve that doesn't let those melt into richness on the palate quite yet. Store this confidently in a cool place and enjoy it 2020-2025."
